On the site of a smaller Gothic fortress, Zdislav Berka had a new castle built in the mid-16th century. On the ground floor there is an interesting chapel of St. Francis of Assissi and on the 2nd floor there are adapted baroque rooms for the resigned Austrian Emperor Ferdinand. All interiors have luxurious furnishings and are decorated with ceiling paintings by Josef Navratil. A rarity is the preserved passenger elevator from 1870. During the tour, you can see not only the emperor's suite, but also the dining room and the chapel where Franz Ferdinand d'Este, heir to the Austrian throne, married Countess Žofia Chotkova in 1900. The chateau is adjoined by a French garden with geometrically arranged shrubs and a natural landscape park.Lemberk Chateau - Lemberk Chateau was built by rebuilding a medieval castle where St. Zdislava of Lemberk lived and, according to legend, performed miracles. Visitors are surprised by the rich baroque decoration of the courtyard; inside the chateau, the chapel, the hall with a rare coffered ceiling with painted scenes from Aesop's Fables, the armoury and the black kitchen, in which cooking was done on an open fire, are the most interesting. The castle interiors with their stuccoed ceilings, furnished with historical furniture, paintings, glass and ceramics or other art objects, give an idea of the life of the nobility in the waning Renaissance and the emerging Baroque period. The personality of St. Zdislava of Lemberk is commemorated by the so-called Zdislava's little world from the 17th century, where, according to the legend of the time, the pious noblewoman used to stay and meditate. Not far from the chateau there is also the so-called Zdislava's Well.
