Máchovo jezero is called a lake, but it is actually a pond. It is the largest pond in North Bohemia. It was founded in 1366 by King Charles IV. There are two islands on the lake - Mouse and Duck, to which several local legends are connected. The islets are important ornithological sites and it is forbidden to enter them. The water surface of Lake Máchovo is surrounded by 4 large sandy beaches. Cruise boat rides, the Aquapark on the Old Splav beach, beach volleyball and other sports are of considerable interest.
