Stage 3: Česká Lípa - Děčín (approx. 36 km)

The third stage leads from Česká Lípa along the Varhany cycle path, then partly along secondary roads to Žandov and Starý Šachov. Then you will reach Benešov nad Ploučnicí with a nice castle and then to the end of the Ploučnice cycle path to Děčín.

The route from Česká Lípa follows the Varhany cycle path (former railway) and thus diverges from the flow of the Ploučnice river. It returns to it at Žandov, where we recommend turning to the village of Horní Police to a very nice pilgrimage site of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. Then the route runs along the Ploučnice to Starý Šachov, where it enters the Ústí nad Labem region. Here the route is mostly a separate cycle path and you can visit the chateau complex in Benešov nad Ploučnicí or the attractions in the town of Děčín (the chateau, the zoo, the Shepherd's Wall with a ferrata and a viewpoint).

In terms of surface, the trail is partly on asphalt and partly on gravel. In places the surface condition (gravel) is deteriorated and gradual repairs are planned. The problematic section here is the route between Soutěske and Děčín-Březiny. The route here runs along a class II road with a higher frequency of car traffic. In the near future, this section should be built as a new and safe cycle path (off the road).
