Kohout lookout tower

1557

The lookout can be found on Kohout Hill (589 m above sea level), which towers above the village of Valkeřice. The low stone lookout tower has been standing on Kohout since 1908. It was built by the German Tourist Association. According to the original plans, a wooden lookout tower with a stone base was supposed to stand here. Due to lack of funds, the wooden base was replaced by a metal structure. In 2010 the tower was reconstructed. From a height of 12 metres you can see Ještěd, Klíč in the Lužické hory Mountains, Strážný vrch, Ralsko or the surroundings of Česká Lípa. The lookout tower is open all year round.
