Lipý Water Castle was founded in the 13th century, only a part of the castle wall has been preserved. The most famous holder of the castle was Henry of Lipá. The castle is dominated by a massive wall with a Renaissance window and two gate towers. In the courtyard visitors can see the foundations of the tower's refuge, the so-called bergfrith, which together with the foundations of the medieval log cabin and the furnace belong to the oldest development phase of the castle uncovered by archaeological research. The unique Gothic cellars from the second half of the 14th century have been preserved from the main castle building and are a wonderful example of the building art of the earlier masters.
Today, there is a sightseeing tour for visitors, which allows a tour of the courtyard with a presentation of the remains of the castle architecture, a visit to the unique castle cellars with a small sample of archaeological findings. In the only preserved building of Lipý Castle, the eastern gate tower, there is an exhibition reminiscent of life at Lipý Castle at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The tour is accompanied by an expert guide. In the summer months, a self-guided tour of the courtyard and cellars is possible.
Lipý Water Castle is located in the historical centre of the town and is part of the town's conservation area. The courtyard of the castle also serves as an open-air stage for cultural events.
